Medication-assisted weight loss

with medical advice and supervision

Severe overweight (obesity) is a chronic disease that increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and joint problems. If changing your diet and exercising more are not enough on their own, treatment with GLP-1-based medication – often called the “weight-loss injection” – can provide effective support.

We advise you in detail, check together whether the treatment is suitable for you and support you with regular follow-up appointments throughout the treatment. Consultations with our doctors can be held in English.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more

with a BMI of 27 or more and a weight-related condition, e.g. type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or a lipid disorder

if diet and exercise alone have not been successful

if you are prepared to change your lifestyle alongside the treatment

How the treatment works

  1. Initial consultation: We record your baseline (weight, waist circumference, blood tests) and discuss previous illnesses, medication and your goals.
  2. Starting treatment: You receive a private prescription and instructions on how to use the pre-filled pen. The injection is given once a week.
  3. Dose increase: The dose is increased step by step during the first months. We see you for a check-up about every four weeks.
  4. Follow-up: After about 16 weeks we assess the results, and again after 6 and 12 months with detailed blood tests. We then decide together how to proceed.

How does the treatment work?

Satiety

The active substances mimic the body’s own gut hormone GLP-1. In the brain they increase the feeling of fullness and reduce hunger and cravings.

Stomach

Stomach emptying is slowed down, so you feel full for longer after eating and portions become smaller.

Metabolism

Insulin release according to need is promoted and blood sugar control improves. Related conditions also benefit.

The active substances used are semaglutide or tirzepatide. We decide together in the consultation which medication and dose are right for you.

Costs

Weight-loss treatment is a self-pay service.

Frequently asked questions

As a rule, no.

After about 16 weeks we check whether the treatment is working. Treatment usually lasts at least 12 months; we then decide together whether to continue, adjust or stop it.

Gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhoea or constipation are common, especially at the start and after dose increases. Occasionally, gallstones or inflammation of the pancreas can occur. That is why we increase the dose slowly and see you regularly.

The treatment is not suitable, among others, during pregnancy and breastfeeding or with certain thyroid tumours (including in the family). Special caution is needed with diseases of the pancreas, kidneys or eyes. We clarify this in the initial consultation.

Yes. A balanced, calorie-reduced and protein-rich diet and more exercise are an integral part of the treatment. This helps you maintain muscle mass and secure long-term success.

If lifestyle changes are not maintained, weight often increases again after stopping. We therefore also support you when ending the treatment.
